Human-readable forensic summary with all metadata
The only web evidence tool whose proofs survive even if our company disappears. Self-verifiable cryptography, no vendor lock-in, no “trust us” required.
Tamper-proof cryptographic evidence courts accept: hash, signature, blockchain timestamp, capture video, Provenance Certificate. One click. 41 seconds.
From $8.99/mo (approx. C$13) · Up to 15 files per package · 23 countries
Also available for Microsoft Edge · The only extension with legally binding EU timestamps in all 27 member states
ProofSnap is a Chrome & Edge extension that captures web pages as court-admissible evidence in 41 seconds. Three capture options: single page, multi-tab browsing session (with per-tab forensic packages), or signed video proof (Auto, Manual, or Session-wide screen recording). Every capture includes a SHA-256 cryptographic hash, RSA-4096 digital signature, Bitcoin blockchain timestamp via OpenTimestamps, and a Provenance Certificate with 8 integrity checks for deepfake detection. In Canada, this answers the two questions the Evidence Acts actually ask. Section 31.1 of the Canada Evidence Act puts the burden of proving authenticity on whoever tenders the electronic document, and section 31.2 satisfies the best evidence rule on proof of the integrity of the electronic documents system that recorded or stored it. Section 31.3 adds that integrity is proven, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, by evidence that the system was operating properly at all material times. Every province has its own Evidence Act drafted from the same uniform model, so the wording changes but the question does not: Ontario section 34.1 satisfies the best evidence rule on proof of the integrity of the electronic record and expressly recognizes reliable encryption as a way of supporting it. Our guide to tribunal and small claims evidence works through the filing deadlines in detail. The same signed package strengthens a Landlord and Tenant Board or Civil Resolution Tribunal filing, a responding record on a section 137.1 anti-SLAPP motion, an intimate image protection order application, or a report to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. Enterprise plans add eIDAS-qualified timestamps issued by Disig a.s., a Qualified Trust Service Provider on the EU Trusted List, for extra international weight. Evidence packages also line up with FRE 901 (US), eIDAS Article 41 (EU) and comparable rules in Germany, Italy and France. Pricing starts at $8.99/month with a 7-day free trial requiring a credit card. Used by lawyers, STR hosts, copyright enforcement firms, and compliance teams in 23 countries.

United States courts rejected screenshot evidence in US v. Vayner, Griffin v. State and Serrano v. Cruz-Angeles. The authentication gap they identified is the same one here.
File timestamps can be changed in seconds. Courts know this. Without a blockchain or eIDAS-qualified timestamp, you can't prove when you captured it.
Any screenshot can be edited in 10 seconds with AI. In Sept 2025, a California judge dismissed a case after discovering deepfaked video evidence. Without a SHA-256 hash, there's no way to prove yours is real.
Who captured it? When? On what device? How was it stored? Screenshots don't answer any of these questions. Under FRE 901 and eIDAS Art. 41, digital evidence requires authentication.

Built for how disputes start in Canada
Most Canadian disputes never reach a superior court. They start at the Landlord and Tenant Board, at the Civil Resolution Tribunal, in small claims, or with a post that disappears the moment someone lawyers up. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre recorded a record C$704 million in reported losses in 2025, and says only 5 to 10 per cent of fraud is reported at all. Whether you are filing inside a 7-day tribunal deadline, answering an anti-SLAPP motion, or applying for a takedown order, ProofSnap locks the record in seconds, with a signed PDF and a SHA-256 hash that holds up when the other side says "that screenshot is fake".
Tenancy, building and consumer disputes are decided on listings, inspection photos and message threads. At the Landlord and Tenant Board every party files the evidence it intends to rely on at least 7 days before the hearing, and 5 days for responding evidence, and late material may simply not be looked at. A landlord or trader who says the listing never said that is much harder to believe against a hashed, timestamped capture. See the detail in our guide to tribunal and small claims evidence deadlines.
A defendant can move early under section 137.1 to dismiss a claim arising from expression on a matter of public interest, and the burden then flips to you: substantial merit, no valid defence, and harm outweighing the public interest in the expression, all before discovery. Capture the post, the account and the reach while the page is live, because a deleted post is a deleted case. See our guide to defamation and anti-SLAPP evidence.
British Columbia lets you apply online to the Civil Resolution Tribunal for an order that an intimate image be deleted, de-indexed or removed, and since 18 March 2026 you can seek up to C$75,000 in compensation rather than C$5,000. The order works, and it also removes your proof. Capture it first, apply second, as explained in our guide to intimate image takedown evidence.
Investment fraud took C$351 million in 2025, romance and relationship fraud C$63.3 million and job fraud C$50.6 million, in a record year of C$704 million reported. Lock the listing, the price, the promised delivery, the fake dashboard and the chat before the account disappears, so your bank dispute and your CAFC report rest on the same signed package. Our guide to fraud evidence for the CAFC sets out what to capture and in what order.
If you are dealing with a single scam or one bad actor, a one-off SnapPack is a single up-front purchase, with no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no trial. Or send us the link and our team captures the court-ready package for you, no install required.

Independent legal opinion · 21 April 2026
The opinion was prepared by SEDLAKOVA LEGAL s.r.o. (Brno, Czech Bar Association, Company ID 05669871) under EU law (Regulation 910/2014, eIDAS) with reference to Czech civil procedure. Cross-references to the US Federal Rules of Evidence (FRE 901, 902(13)-(14), proposed FRE 707) and the English Civil Procedure Rules (CPR 32, 35) added by the ProofSnap team for orientation of common-law readers.
FRE 901 · FRE 902(13)-(14) · CPR 32 · eIDAS Art. 41
ProofSnap outputs are usable as means of evidence in civil, criminal and administrative proceedings. Authentication satisfied under FRE 901 / 902 in the US, CPR 32 in the UK, and free evaluation of evidence in EU systems, reinforced by US case law (Vayner, Lorraine v. Markel, Mendones).
Notarial deed · Court reporter affidavit
The opinion describes ProofSnap as "a suitable and economical alternative" to notarial fact certification of website state. Court-reporter affidavits and notarial deeds (US $200-500, UK £200-800) require waiting time during which content can disappear; ProofSnap captures immediately with cryptographic integrity.
eIDAS Art. 41(2) · Regulation (EU) 910/2014
The qualified eIDAS timestamp issued by Disig a.s., a Qualified Trust Service Provider on the EU Trusted List, carries the statutory presumption of accuracy of date, time and data integrity, shifting the burden of disproof to the opposing party, directly across all 27 EU Member States.
“The outputs of the ProofSnap service are, from the perspective of Czech procedural law and the EU legal framework, generally usable as means of evidence in any type of proceedings.”
Conclusion of the legal opinion, SEDLAKOVA LEGAL s.r.o., 21 April 2026
The opinion is publicly accessible, no registration. The conclusions express the legal view of the author and do not constitute binding legal advice.
ProofSnap's eIDAS qualified timestamps shift the legal burden. Under EU Regulation 910/2014, Article 41, your evidence is legally presumed accurate, and the opposing party must prove otherwise.

Evidence disappears. Messages get deleted. Pages go offline. Every day you wait is a day your evidence is at risk.
Canada has a federal Evidence Act and a provincial one in every province, all drafted from the same uniform model. The statute that applies depends on the court, but the question they put to an electronic document is the same one, and it is unusually close to what a cryptographic capture is designed to answer.
Authenticity is your burden
Section 31.1 of the Canada Evidence Act puts the burden of proving authenticity on the party seeking to admit the electronic document, by evidence capable of supporting a finding that it is what it is purported to be. Nobody has to disprove your screenshot. You have to prove it.
Best evidence turns on system integrity
Section 31.2 satisfies the best evidence rule on proof of the integrity of the electronic documents system that recorded or stored the document. Section 31.3 says integrity is proven, absent evidence to the contrary, by evidence the system was operating properly at all material times.
The provinces mirror it
Ontario section 34.1 of the Evidence Act satisfies the best evidence rule on proof of the integrity of the electronic record, and expressly allows that integrity to be supported by evidence that reliable encryption techniques were used. Other provinces follow the same uniform model.
Tribunals are looser, deadlines are not
The Landlord and Tenant Board and the Civil Resolution Tribunal do not apply the rules of evidence strictly, but the LTB will refuse late material: 7 days before the hearing for the evidence you rely on, 5 days for responding evidence, and portal upload is not service.
An honest note on eIDAS: Canada has no equivalent of the European qualified timestamp regime, so our eIDAS timestamp carries no automatic presumption in a Canadian court or tribunal. It is corroboration from an independent, audited third party, not a legal shortcut. What does the work here is the hash, the signature and the blockchain anchor, all of which anyone can verify without trusting us.
Prices are charged in USD. The approximate Canadian figure shown under each price is for orientation only, converted at about C$1.40 to US$1. Your card issuer sets the actual rate on the day. Regular screenshots can be challenged in court because they carry no proof of when they were taken or whether they have been altered. Canadian law is unusually direct about this. Under section 31.1 of the Canada Evidence Act the burden of proving authenticity sits on whoever tenders the electronic document, and section 31.2 satisfies the best evidence rule on proof of the integrity of the electronic documents system that recorded or stored it. Section 31.3 adds that integrity is proven, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, by evidence that the system was operating properly at all material times. Every province has its own Evidence Act built from the same uniform model, and Ontario section 34.1 goes further by expressly recognizing reliable encryption as a way of supporting integrity. Tribunals such as the Landlord and Tenant Board and the Civil Resolution Tribunal do not apply the rules of evidence strictly, but they still weigh how reliable a record looks, and the LTB will refuse material filed late.
ProofSnap addresses this by creating a forensic evidence package containing a SHA-256 hash proving the content has not been modified, an RSA-4096 digital signature for authenticity, a blockchain timestamp proving when the capture happened, and full metadata including the URL and the capture time in UTC. That is a direct answer to the section 31.2 integrity question, and it gives an adjudicator something concrete to weigh rather than an image file with no provenance.
ProofSnap uses three layers of cryptographic protection:
Together, these mechanisms create a chain of integrity that proves the evidence is authentic, unaltered, and was captured at a specific point in time.
The eIDAS 2 regulation (EU 2024/1183) is fully rolling out by the end of 2026, establishing stricter standards for electronic identification, digital signatures, and qualified electronic timestamps across all EU member states.
Under Article 41, qualified electronic timestamps enjoy a legal presumption of accuracy for the date and time they indicate, and the integrity of the data to which the timestamp is linked. This means evidence timestamped with a qualified service is admissible across all EU courts.
ProofSnap's cryptographic proofs align with eIDAS 2 requirements: SHA-256 hashing for data integrity, RSA-4096 digital signatures for authenticity, and blockchain timestamps via OpenTimestamps for independent time verification. This makes ProofSnap evidence packages suitable for legal proceedings in any EU jurisdiction.
